Fractions Made Easy

Kids, 8-11, will have a blast practicing fraction with this fun program by Dorling Kindersley.

Five fun games help kids practice and understand fractions.

Long Jump challenges players to estimate where simple fractions go on a number line. Kids must choose where jumpers will land in the pit. Once players choose they can watch each team member jump to see where they land. The pit is then divided into a number line to help students understand. Extra long jump is the same game but players must estimate improper fractions. After the jump, improper fractions are changed to mixed numbers. This is an excellent visual activity.

In Penalty Shoot Out kids must identify a fraction from a picture. If players choose the correct fraction based on portions of a soccer ball that are filled in they score a goal.

High Flyers asks players to fly an aircraft through the cloud with the correct answer. As students play they practice adding and subtracting fractions.

In Home Run Hitter kids must identify equal fractions to hit home runs.

This is a great drill and practice program with the perfect combination of sports fun and problems to help kids really understand fractions.

Parents can choose certain fractions for each activity. Parental password for this CD is control.
