Technical Support

At Kids Click Software we stand behind our software and want to make sure you get a program that will work on your computer. Since we have over 500 programs from many manufacturers we are not the technical support experts.

(1) If you are experiencing problems with a program you should first check the system requirement to make sure your system meets the minimum requirements.

Minimum system requirements are listed on our website for all the programs we sell. These system requirements are taken directly from the manufacturers material.

If we have tested the program on Windows Vista or Windows 7 there is a note in the system requirements indicating this. We will not test programs on any professional versions of these operating systems. The majority of our software is for home use and therefore designed to run primarily on Home versions of each OS.

We are currently testing on Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. If you are running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home some of the program we test may not work for you. When you check the system requirements look for programs the manufacturer shows will run on Windows Vista. (the ones with no *) At this time we have found that most programs that the manufacturer shows will run on Windows Vista will also run on Windows 7.

The Compatibility Wizard is designed to help you run software that was written for an earlier version of Windows. Here are two links that explain the compatibility wizard. In Windows 7 this tool is called the Program Compatibility Assistant.

To access program compatibility follow these steps:

Start / Help & Support / Search for Compatibility

(2) Contact the technical support department of the manufacturer. The contact information should be listed in the material you received with the CD-ROM. We have also listed some technical support websites below for your convenience.

Riverdeep (The Learning Company) -  www.riverdeep.net

Infogrames - www.ina-support.com

Infogrames includes Humongous Entertainment, Hasbro Interactive & GT Interactive

Fogware Publishing - www.home.fog-ware.com

Disney - http://bvgsupport.go.com/techdocs/disney/homepage.do

Her Interactive - http://www.herinteractive.com/prod/FAQ/faq.php

Sound Source Interactive - www.soundsourceinteractive.com

Encore Education - www.encoreusa.com

Brighter Child - www.brightermindsmedia.com

Lego - www.legomedia.com

Knowledge Adventure, Barbie, Fisher Price - www.support.education.com

Scholastic - http://www.scholastic.com/techsupport/

Topics - www.topics-ent.com

Unfortunately manufacturers change names, locations and phone numbers frequently and software titles change companies. It can be difficult to keep up with technical support.

(3) If you are unable to reach technical support or cannot resolve the problem we would be glad to help. Return the CD-ROM plus everything  you received with it (box, manuals etc...) and your receipt to the address listed below. The CD and material must be in original condition. We will test the CD to determine if it is defective. If the CD is defective we will replace it promptly. If the CD is not defective we will contact you and issue you a credit equal to the purchase price towards anything else on our website. In accordance with our Return Policy we will not issue refunds.

Please be aware that in the majority of cases the CD-ROMs are not defective. Usually the problem is an incompatibility issue. This can occur due to the complexity and variety of hardware,  software, peripherals and system configurations. Incompatibility may occur even though other programs work on your computer.

System Requirements: The manufacturers minimum system requirements are listed for each program on our website. These requirement are taken from the packaging material or other information (websites etc...) provided by the manufacturer.

In some cases we may test programs to determine if they will run properly on an operating system developed after the software was published. This is done to help our customers determine if software is compatible with newer operating systems. This does not guarantee the software will work on all computers with the stated operating system. Computers have numerous components, both software and hardware, and we cannot test on all configurations.

If we have tested a program the system requirements will indicate what OS we tested on and the outcome of the test.

Helpful Hints: Here are some suggestions for issues we have come across.

CD-ROM only plays music when inserted - Some computers may read some programs and think they are music CDs. All you need to do is browse the CD and find the setup for install file. Running one of these should start installation.

Program freezes or video is distorted or jumpy - Try using the compatibility wizard to change your display settings. Check the program requirements on the jewel or box and set it accordingly. You can access compatibility settings by right clicking on the program icon.

Sound decompression error on DK programs - This is actually a Direct X issue. Here are some links to patches that fix this problem for OS through XP.

Running Win XP on Win 7 Professional - Windows 7 Professional only (NOT the Home versions) offers a feature called “XP Mode.” It is available as a free download, and is actually a fully functional copy of Windows XP Pro that is added as a “virtual machine.”

I mention this because XP Mode can/should install/run programs that will not install/run in Windows 7.

I have Windows 7 Pro (64-bit), and use XP Mode to run a 32-bit software program that would not even install, let alone run, in Windows 7. All my other programs that I use on my XP pc did install and are running fine. But the XP Mode saved me from having to purchase a newer version of that one program (which now costs several hundred dollars).

Here are a couple of links for more info:
