Encyclopedia of Space and the Universe

Students, 10 and up, can explore space in this extraordinary CD by DK (Dorling Kindersley).

The Encyclopedia of Space and the Universe is a tool no student should be without. This is nothing like a paper encyclopedia. Students can tour the universe through rich text, beautiful illustrations (many that animate), 3D models, interactive Sky Dome, activities and quizzes.

The A-Z Index helps students find exactly what they are looking for fast. This feature is helpful when researching for school reports.

Students can also explore the encyclopedia by choosing a category, Who's Who, Race for Space, The Cosmos, Solar Systems, The Planets, Stars and Star Clusters, Deep Space, Hardware, History and Sky Watching.

Definitions include rich text that is narrated, a beautiful illustration that may animate to explain a concept, hypertext links to define words and related subjects.

Students will study the history of astronomy, learn about space technology, discover how gravity affects planetary and satellite movement, follow how stars develop and identify stars and their constellations.

In the Sky Dome, young astronomers can view the night sky at any point on the globe and any time in history.

Two fun activities challenge students to manipulate thrust to land on the moon and put together rockets to launch.

The Quiz Master is a challenging question and answer game for one or two players. Students answer questions about space to test what they know and just have some fun.

This CD gives students 10 and up the opportunity to learn about space and the universe through exploration and discovery.
